Facebook is back in the news once again as this time the social network has unveiled a whole new way for users to filter their News Feed. Details given below.

Previously, the News Feed presented two options, Top News, which happens to be an algorithmic choice of Facebook showing the most interesting stories from the user’s feed and Most Recent stories, which obviously showed the latest happening and changing stories from the user’s friends.

In light of these changes, the Most Recent option has been transformed into a drop-down menu which offers users with new options. Users will now be able to see stories pertaining to Games, Status Updates, Photos, Links and Pages in their feed. Users will also have the ability to select a particular Group of theirs to only see stories from. The drop-down menu will also now give the user access to the Live Feed settings, from where they can moderate their preferences as to how many stories they want to see from a particular user.

The core functions of these individual filters are easily explained by the terms, themselves. Games will show game related content, Photos will show stories only with images, Status Updates will show a nice and clean stream of updated statuses, Links shall focus towards posts with links, and Pages will display updates of Pages the user has opted for.

Nevertheless, it should be kept in mind that this new option is still not live for everybody on Facebook, and it could also be a possibility that this is just a test run by Facebook, we’ll have to wait and see what ultimately happens.
