Microsoft Word is one of the component parts of the Microsoft Office Suite. Microsoft Word 2002 is easy to install and takes only a few minutes. Once you have completed installation you can configure Microsoft Word to your own personal settings and preferences.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructionsThings You'll Need:Microsoft Word or Office DisksKey code1Insert the Microsoft Word 2002 CD-ROM or the Microsoft Office CD-ROM into the ROM drive on your computer. If you are using the Word CD ROM you will be shown the Microsoft Word Install Wizard. If you are using the Office CD-ROM you will be shown the Office Install Wizard. If you bought MS Word and downloaded off the Microsoft website click "Install."
2Select the installation language. U.S. English is the default choice. You will then be instructed to thoroughly read and agree to the Licensing agreement. Check the box to denote that you have read and understand the agreement. Note the "Next" button that appears. Click this to continue the installation.
3Input the key code that came with the Microsoft Word 2002 or Office disks. If your copy is a download you will have received a confirmation email from Microsoft, containing your personal key code for your product. Once you have completed that follow the rest of the prompts that appear on the screen.
4Finish installation by clicking the "Finished" button and Microsoft Word will open. You may be prompted to restart your computer for the installation to take effect. If Word does open you will be prompted to register the product with Microsoft.
5Restart your computer and open Microsoft Word by double clicking the desktop shortcut. If no shortcut appears, click "Start," "Programs" and "Word" to open it. You can then set the preferences such as font type and size, so that they will be your default fonts whenever you type something into a Word document.
6Read the help section using "F1" for the "Office Assistant" if you are unfamiliar with how to use Microsoft Word. Also, you may wish to consult the help section if you are familiar with Word, but not the 2002 version.
